Siiiiiiigh... I wish I started on the sunscreen bandwagon before I turned 28. Let's just say that I'm now a proud daily sunscreen wearer.

I use my Biore UV Watery Gel everyday on my face and have not stopped. However I don't reapply it during the day, especially if my hands aren't clean. If any of you work in the city and just use public transport, you just know the last thing you want to do is touch your face without washing your hands. Ech. So yeah, "Just go to the bathroom and wash your hands!" you might say... I'm no germo-phobe but public bathrooms aren't all that clean either. What helped in this case?

Stick sunscreens are a lifesaver!!! 👌👌👌

I have been browsing around for one and the first most accessible one I've bumped into is the Shiseido WetForce Clear Stick with SPF 50+.

Gotta burst everyone's bubble, this is a small stick. Like imagine a travel size deodorant stick. It is made of a sturdy blue & orange plastic container and the cap securely clicks in when you close it so you are will not accidentally open it in your bags. The sunscreen product itself is 15g only, but the great thing about it is that it'll last you a long time. I used it twice all over my face generously with the neck area and it barely made a dent.

The product box packaging contains no manual or paper for details, everything is printed onto the box in a small font so you can get all the details there.

Ingredients, separated into active and inactive:

Homosalate 10.0%, Octisalate 5.0%, Octocrylene 5.0%, Octinoxate 4.9%, Oxybenzone 3.0%, Avobenzone 2.5%
Diphenylsiloxy Phenyl Trimethicone, Triethylhexnoin, Mineral Oil, Hydrostearic Acid, Dibutyul Lauroyl Glutamide, Polyamide-8, PEG/PPG-14/7 Dimethyl Ether, Lecithin, Glycrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, PG-17, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Butylated Hydroxytoluene, Tocopherol, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Fragrance

According to COSDNA, the seemingly possible irritants are the mineral oil and tocopherol.

Good news for those with sensitive noses, there is added fragrance but it is not strong at all. I only notice it during application and it reminds me of petroleum in a way. After a few minutes, you don't smell anything anymore.

Clear gel and firm in texture.

The texture is very much like a lip balm consistency, similar to the DHC lip balm or petroleum jelly although it is not heavy on the skin. It is a clear solid gel stick, similar to gel deodorants. It provides a very dewy finish, if you're not a fan this might not be the stick for you. It shines in the direct sun.

The slight sheen left behind at the wrist area compared to the back of my hand.

I have dehydrated combination to oily skin. I tried this with makeup underneath and it applies properly but it did move my concealer into a streaky mess.I also found my skin to feel a lot more oily after application on top of the makeup but it didn't break me out. If you tend to wear a lot of base makeup, I would advise against using this sun stick and just stick with finger application with a sunscreen cushion or serum/gel. You may also try out a matte finish sun stick instead.

With just a skincare base, I felt it performed better during the day. I didn't feel as oily, so it might have been a combination with my current skin condition with the makeup.

I didn't try to put makeup on top of it yet, since I always use my Biore UV Watery Gel as mentioned earlier. I have a feeling it won't be a good combination due to the texture. It might make the base foundations or concealers slide around.

I'm going to recommend this only if you're not planning to wear heavy makeup or if you're doing day/sports/swimming activities. It does have WetForce technology which claims to perform better with a wet environment, so sweat or water. I haven't tested those yet.

I felt it was great for its simplicity, packaging and performance in terms of sunscreen itself, but the texture could be improved. The WetForce technology also provides protection in a more specific use case that I didn't evaluate yet.  I'll have to try it during swimming.

I've changed it to a scale of 5.
5 - Amazing, a favourite or holy grail (HG) item.
4 - Good product, will probably repurchase if nothing else interests me.
3 - OK | Need more evaluation
2 - Didn't do anything for me, not repurchasing.
1 - Bad product or reacted to the product.
